Redistricting
The Office of Local Government (OLG) provides assistance to local governments in support of the local redistricting process and the ongoing maintenance of voting precincts. At the core of these services is the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. OLG also serves as Tennessee’s liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau for their Redistricting Data Program. In addition, OLG provides assistance to local governments and the legislature as needed.

Parcel Data Stewardship
As Tennessee’s steward of parcel GIS data, OLG is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and distribution of the statewide parcel data produced through the Tennessee Base Mapping Program. Maintenance responsibilities are fulfilled by working with local government Property Assessors throughout the state to ensure that data accurately reflects the cadastral landscape of Tennessee. Distribution responsibilities are fulfilled by working with the Office for Information Resources, GIS Services division to make the parcel data available to government agencies as well as the general public through Tennessee’s centralized GIS mapping portal known as the Tennessee Map (TNMap).
