Information Technology Services
The Information Technology section of the Office of Management Services provides services in systems analysis and development, computer operations, data entry, PC support, network support and other computer related areas on a centralized basis for all divisions and boards in the Comptroller's Office. Information Technology management reviews and approves all computer hardware and software purchases and provides planning and budgeting support for the replacement of the existing hardware inventory.
The IT section maintains and supports mainframe and PC-based applications by providing continuous monitoring, analysis and programming for upgrades or enhancements, production of ad-hoc reports and file updates, and security administration.

Attached to the networks are over 420 PCs using Windows-based desktop software products. Additionally, support is provided for over 360 notebook or portable computers and a variety of networked and non-networked printers. Among the support functions provided are system and network security administration, help desk customer support, training, and installation of PC hardware and software.
The computer operations staff is responsible for printing reports including many using custom forms such as property record cards, property tax notices, and tax receipts. In addition to printing, report preparation procedures such as bursting, decollating, gluing and binding are performed.
Data entry services for divisions of the Comptroller's Office are also provided. Participating divisions supply the documents for data entry where the staff keys the data for use as input to the respective computer systems.
Support for special projects, such as those requiring technical research or those involving graphical presentations, is provided for the divisions of the Comptroller's Office as needed. Assistance is also provided when possible to other State agencies and to local governments.
Under the direction of a Management Advisory Committee, the IT section is responsible for the preparation of the annual Three Year Information Technology Plan for the Comptroller's Office, which in turn becomes a part of the overall State Information Technology Plan.
The IT section provides a wide range of support and services to the Comptroller's Office. To maintain a high level of service, it is necessary for the IT staff to constantly strive to keep up with technology in an environment of constant change.
