Amber Crawford

State Audit

Amber Crawford, SPHR is the Assistant Director of Administration for the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Division of State Audit. Amber is responsible for the division’s administrative operations including budgeting, human resources, audit fees, and the audit training program. She also oversees Audit Special Teams including the Audit Data Analytics, Audit Editing, and Early Planning teams. Additionally, Amber is involved with the division’s various strategic initiatives and employee engagement efforts. She also teaches classes on several leadership topics. 

Amber began her career in state government in 2010 with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Human Resources division. In 2013, she joined the Comptroller’s Office to lead its Human Resources team. In 2019, she transferred to State Audit as the Employee Engagement Manager and was promoted to Assistant Director in 2020.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Human Resources from Middle Tennessee State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western Governors University. She also earned her Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Amber is active in government auditing professional organizations including NASACT and NSAA, and she is a member of AGA. She has completed several state government leadership courses including LEAD Tennessee (2012), the Tennessee Government Executive Institute (2022), and the class of HR Masters (2014).

Amber’s home is busy with the activities of her two sons and their beagle. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and church community.
