Brent L. Rumbley, CPA, CISA, CFE is the Assistant Director of the Information Systems audit team for the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Division of State Audit. Brent is responsible for overseeing the teams that perform the division’s data retrieval and information technology audits. In addition, Brent is leading the division’s new cybersecurity assessment initiative for state departments, agencies, and higher education institutions.

Brent joined the Comptroller’s Office in 1998 as a financial and compliance auditor within State Audit. Two years later, he became an information systems auditor. In 2012, he was promoted to Information Systems Audit Manager and was named Assistant Director in 2020.

Brent holds a master’s degree in computer information systems from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Tennessee Technological University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Brent is also a 2023 graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute and a 2009 graduate of the Tennessee Government Management Institute. He is an active member of ISACA, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the National State Auditors Association.

Brent and his wife have one son and two daughters. In his spare time, Brent enjoys volunteering with his local church, exploring the outdoors, spending time with his family, and participating in his newfound love of pickleball.
