Nathan Abbott, CISA, CFE, EA serves as the Assistant Director of Information Systems within the Tennessee Comptroller’s Division of Local Government Audit. Nathan contributes his expertise to the audit team by delivering technical assistance to its members. He also oversees the Information Systems auditors within the division.

Nathan joined the Comptroller’s Office in 1996, spending one year with the Division of State Audit before transferring to the Division of Local Government Audit.  Throughout his service Nathan has taken on increasing responsibilities within the division and supported internal efforts as well as professional organizations to help further government accountability. In 2023, Nathan was promoted to Assistant Director.

Nathan is a graduate of Freed Hardeman University, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.  He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service.  Nathan is also a graduate of both the Tennessee Government Management Institute and the Tennessee Government Executive Institute. 

Nathan provides training on a variety of topics including computer forensics, cybersecurity, Excel, Word, and computer applications.  He is a dedicated member of the Nashville Chapter of AGA and has served on the Chapter Executive Committee as Webmaster for over a decade. 

Nathan resides in Franklin with his wife and twin daughters. Notably, he is well known around the Comptroller’s Office for dressing up as Santa Claus for the Comptroller’s annual Christmas party.
