Suzzie Singleton

Suzzie Singleton, CFE, CGFM, CFI is the Deputy Chief Investigator for the Mid-East Region of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Division of Investigations. She supports the Comptroller’s mission of making government work better by leading a team that investigates allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse in government and publicly funded entities.

Suzzie began her career with the Comptroller’s Office in 1995. She worked as an auditor in both the divisions of State Audit and Local Government Audit before becoming a full-time investigator in 2009. She was named a Deputy Chief Investigator in 2020.

Suzzie received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), and a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI). Suzzie is also a former president of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a 2021 graduate of LEAD Tennessee. 

Notably, her 2018 report on the investigation into the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department won the National State Auditors Association 2019 Excellence in Accountability Awards.

Suzzie and her husband live in Middle Tennessee. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and playing strategy games. She also loves hanging out with her cat, Lady Bug, and watching her son’s dogs. She is a firm believer that laughter can get you through life’s ups and downs.
