Competitive Salaries

The Comptroller’s Office takes pride in offering employees a competitive salary. Our office regularly analyzes salaries to ensure we are competitive with the market.
 

Insurance

All full-time employees are eligible for group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment, and term life insurance.The State pays the majority of medical insurance premiums, as well as half of the dental insurance premium. Additionally, the State provides Long Term Disability insurance to employees at no cost. More information regarding insurance options can be found on the ParTNers for Health website.

Retirement

New employees receive a hybrid­ pension plan, consisting of both a 401 (k) and a pension plan. It is funded by contributions from both the State of Tennessee and the employee.
 

Defined Benefit Plan

The Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) is the State's defined benefit pension plan. Employees who reach 5 years of service become vested, or eligible, to receive pension benefits upon retirement.

401(k) Plan

New employees are automatically enrolled in the 401 (k) plan at a contribution rate of 2% of their salary.
The State will contribute 5% of an employee's salary to their 401 (k) regardless of the amount
the employee contributes. In addition, all employees can receive up to a $100 monthly 401(k) match.
 

Employee Discounts

State employees receive discounts on a variety of products and services, such as hotel and vacation rentals, amusement parks, car rentals, retail stores, security systems, wireless providers, recreational facilities, and state-operated inns, cabins, campground facilities, golf courses and gift shops.
